LAN'S BEST OF BREED SOLUTION WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO AT RISK COMMUNITY
Language Access Network ("LAN"), the industry leader in trusted healthcare communications, is providing interpreting services to the local Physicians Free Clinic/Voluntary Care Network ("PFC/VCN"). In Franklin County, PFC/VCN is the largest coordinator of voluntary health care services. Physicians throughout the central Ohio area donate their services to make sure vulnerable populations get access to much needed healthcare services. Using interpretation services provided by LAN, PFC/VCN is able to coordinate care for patients in over 170 languages using Martti.
Martti (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter) is LAN's exclusive platform for providing immediate access with one button simplicity and full mobility throughout the clinic. A revolutionary mobile device, Martti provides real-time, on-demand access to qualified medical interpreters using LAN's dedicated HIPAA compliant high-speed broadband network. Carmen Blair, LAN Sales Representative, experienced medical interpreter and community activist, led this initiative for LAN.
"Both Carmen Blair and I, as advocates in the immigrant refugee community, are so proud to see Martti being used as tool to facilitate communication for some of our community's most vulnerable members," stated Erika Shell Castro, Director of Interpreter Services at LAN and cofounder of the Latino Empowerment Outreach Network (LEON). "Knowing that both the providers and patients will have on demand access to qualified interpreters is bringing a long time goal to fruition."
"Our providers and patients are very excited to use LAN's services," Isi Ikharebha, MPH, Director of Physicians Free Clinic and the Voluntary Care Network said. "Our organization is committed to meeting the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations: LAN provides a solution that is easy to use, timely and efficient. Additionally, video interpreting allows our patients and providers to better communicate, improving trust and outcomes."
"We are honored to be able to provide our services to this very worthy cause," stated Andrew Panos, LAN's COO. "Limited English Proficient or Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing patient populations deserve the same access to care as primary English speakers. We hope to be a part of making an impact on patients' lives and are pleased to be a part of the local effort."
