Varian Medical Systems to Offer CIVCO Medical Solutions' Body Pro-Lok' for SBRT

KALONA, Iowa, July 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CIVCO is pleased to announce the signing of a reseller agreement that would allow Varian Medical Systems to offer CIVCO's Body Pro-Lok to its customers. Introduced in 2008 and installed at over 150 community and academic facilities worldwide, Body Pro-Lok excels as a modular base for indexable patient positioning, secure immobilization and efficient patient transport.

Body Pro-Lok was designed to maximize patient comfort during immobilization for treatment. Niko Papanikolaou, Ph.D, Chief of the Division Medical Physics at UT San Antonio's Cancer Therapy & Research Center, has worked extensively with the Body Pro-Lok immobilization product. "The Body Pro-Lok system is very effective for SBRT respiration immobilization," said Papanikolaou. "It is highly indexed, provides setup reproducibility and it is an easy and efficient device to use for robust immobilization."

When used with CIVCO's Protura Robotic Patient Positioning System and Universal Couchtop, Body Pro-Lok is part of a complete motion management solution.
