Four-Day Event Expected to Yield $3.6 Million in Revenue for the City with More than 4,000 Total Room Nights Booked
San Diego-based IDEA Health & Fitness Association, the world's leading membership organization of health and fitness professionals founded by Peter and Kathie Davis, is returning to LA to host the IDEA World Fitness Convention August 11-14 in Downtown Los Angeles. Thousands of people, including leading fitness professionals from around the world, are expected to attend with more than 4,000 total room nights booked collectively at JW Marriott at LA LIVE and the Wilshire Grand and an expected economic impact of $3.6 million citywide.
"We're pleased to have forged a lasting relationship with IDEA," said Mark Liberman, president and CEO of LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The IDEA World Fitness Convention and our city complement one another. LA is blessed with an enviable climate that allows us to bring our workouts outdoors, along the beach, to the foothills and on our city streets. Delegates will find the city to be an idyllic destination with the option to explore Downtown on foot as they travel to and from their hotels to the LA Convention Center and beyond."
IDEA is the world's leading membership organization of fitness and wellness professionals including personal trainers, group fitness instructors, fitness directors and fitness business owners. The annual convention allows fitness experts and the public to network while experiencing the most cutting-edge technology in fitness equipment. Product launches, including nutritional foods and workout accessories, can be viewed on the exhibit floor of the L.A. Convention Center where more than 400 booths and 180 exhibitors will be present. Apolo Ohno, a short track speed skater and eight-time Olympic medalist, will be among the many speakers along with Dr. Daniel G. Amen, a leading physician and bestselling author.
Also attending the event are personal trainers, program and fitness directors, business owners and managers, as well as group fitness instructors from all corners of the world. This is the second consecutive year that the World Fitness Convention has been held in LA, and organizers have announced that the event will return in 2013 and 2015.
"The Los Angeles Convention Center is pleased to host the world's leading expo for fitness and wellness professionals. We will be welcoming visitors from around the globe to experience and exhibit some of the top established fitness brands," said Pouria Abbassi, P.E., CEO and General Manager of the Los Angeles Convention Center. "This is a great opportunity for engagement in an active and healthy lifestyle."
