LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/17/11 -- 7Ponies Productions is pleased to announce that Sergio Myers (writer/director) has won 4 prestigious awards -- 2 from The Indie Fest, and 2 from the Best Shorts Competition for his half hour drama short 'L.A. Love Story Part 1,' also garnering Honorable Mention from the Los Angeles Art-House Film Festival. "The film is inspired by true events of my own personal experiences, I wanted to show that 'one moment' where one decision can change everything in your life. I have seen a lot of people go through it, including myself, and wanted to capture that struggle on film," says Myers.
Myers moved to Hollywood after graduating from Boise State University, renting a one room apartment while delving into his first documentary -- 'Heaven's Gate, The Untold Story.' This documentary earned Myers international attention, being the only outsider allowed to talk with the surviving cult members, and having full access to their personal video and stories. The documentary was screened at the Margaret Mead Film Festival in NY and is now in the American Museum of Natural History.
Myers went on to work at the E! Entertainment Network, producing numerous E! True Hollywood stories before creating his first own reality TV series 'Sorority Life' for MTV, a groundbreaking first ever all female docu-soap.
"L.A. Love Story Part 1 is loosely based on events in my own life, the people I met, and the situations I experienced throughout my career. There are so many factors that can make or break you in Hollywood, and it is those circumstances that affect the rest of your life," says Myers.
L.A. Love Story Part 1 features Ryan Caldwell and Jeannine Kaspar who star as Otis and Cynthia. Otis is a reality television show creator and Cynthia an aspiring actress, each finding themselves faced with temptations of infidelity and drugs while trying to maintain their relationship and fulfill their Hollywood dream.
L.A. Love Story Part 1 has a string of "Official Selections" from International Film Festivals, recently screening at the New York/Los Angeles International Film Festival, Alabama International Film Festival and the Van Wert Independent Film Festival in Ohio. It also has an upcoming official screening at Rumschpringe Film Festival in PA.
