Joint Council 10 Tractor-Trailer to Make Journey from Maine
(Portland, Maine) - On Monday, Aug. 22, the Maine AFL-CIO will hold a press conference to mark the launch of the exhibition of labor murals taking place in Rockville, Md. The murals, copies of the murals that once hung in the Maine capital's Department of Labor, are composed of eleven separate panels and depict scenes from the state's labor union history.

"It was a sad day when our governor, Paul LePage, removed these murals because they weren't syncing with his 'pro-business' vision," said Ken Eaton, President of Teamsters Local 340. "When the opportunity arose for us to transport the murals to the art exhibition space in Maryland, we immediately signed on."
In March of this year, the governor removed the original murals and shipped them off to an undisclosed location. The murals were painted by local artist Judy Taylor. The exhibition, which will be held at the VIS Arts gallery in Rockville, Md., will include other works by the same artist on labor topics.
