Real estate agents representing home buyers and sellers will now have greater access for house-searching or listing their homes for sale with a comprehensive real estate database connecting more than 50 real estate associations, 93,000 real estate agents and 108,000 active listings from Ventura County to and including Orange County, it was announced today.
California Real Estate Technology Services, better known as CARETS, is the first ever consolidated database that allows real estate brokers and agents to obtain details on every property listing for sale or sold in most of Southern California and expanding into parts of Northern California.
"This is the first real estate database of its kind in the nation, It is a 'one-stop shop' for brokers and agents and the buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants they represent," said Mike DeLeon, Chairman, CARETS board of directors.
"CARETS members automatically gain additional marketing of their non-residential properties on the commercial real estate listing platform and marketplace, CARETS Commercial," he said.
Home sellers can now ask their real estate agents to extend the reach of their listings to potential buyers in several counties in the greater Southern California area. For buyers, CARETS means their agents won't have to contact seven different Multiple Listing Services to find their dream homes.
Robert Leighton, a Hollywood based REALTOR®, said CARETS has helped his business.
"I have been doing real estate for over 27 years and I had to belong to several MLS systems to get information about property surrounding the localized area," he said. "With CARETS life has changed dramatically for the better. A large percentage of my sales have come from out of the area brokers thanks to the information highway provided by CARETS."
"With the help of my local MLS and their collaboration with CARETS, I am able to remain in the top 1 percent of my company's production scale," Leighton said.
CARETS is a non-profit mutual-benefit corporation. CARETS membership covers the combined LA Westside MLS (CLAW), CRISNet Regional MLS (San Fernando Valley AOR/Southland Regional AOR), iTECH MLS (Glendale AOR/Pasadena Foothills AOR), CRMLS (South Bay to San Gabriel Valley to Temecula to certain counties in Northern California), Southern California MLS (Orange and Southeast LA Counties, Long Beach to Whittier), Desert Area MLS (California Desert AOR/Palm Springs Regional AOR) and VCRDS (Conejo Simi Moorpark AOR/Ventura County Coastal AOR); representing over 93,000 real estate professionals and 50 REALTOR® associations throughout the Southland, which account for approximately one third of the MLS users in California. With the addition of Northern California, any MLS in California can now apply to become a member of CARETS.
