NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- According to Jeff Christian, founder of executive search firm CTPartners and founder and CEO of Jeff Christian & Company, "One of the main reasons that people love working at Apple is the opportunity to work with and for Steve Jobs."
Christian, who did search work for Apple both in leadership and at the board level remarked, "I valued and learned from every interaction I had with Steve; as I'm sure each and every person who has worked with Steve at Apple can say.
"Steve has an incredible ability to zero-in on the most important aspect of every conversation, every dialogue, every decision and brings creative thought to the most mundane topics.
"The question is, will people leave Apple because Steve is no longer there?" Christian noted that Jobs' resignation will mean that, "employees won't have the opportunity to see him [Jobs] in the halls or know that he has just finished an important meeting. All of those activities create an energy and excitement, particularly at Apple, probably more so than any other company in America."
"Apple has always been a tough place to work in terms of pace, intensity, and demand but people have always said, no matter what, 'I love working for Steve Jobs,'" explained Christian. Employees at Apple will no longer be able to finish that sentence the same way.
Christian predicted that, "Apple can expect to lose some talent as a result of Steve's resignation.
"Some of the people who were at the very top will now be open to calls for CEO searches that they were not willing to take in the past. And, those who have gained experience from Apple and have learned what they can, may not have the same pull to stick around and will also be vulnerable. This can range from engineers to mid-level managers."
