SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/08/11 -- On the heels of a hugely successful Recruitment Expo in May 2011, Working In Ltd., returns to Alberta with the Opportunities Australia & New Zealand - Engineering, Mining, Oil and Gas Recruitment Expo. The Recruitment Expo will be held in Calgary on September 17-18, 2011 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and in Edmonton on September 24-25, 2011 at the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort.
The Expo will provide a platform for engineering, mining, and oil and gas professionals to meet with Australasia's leading employers in their field. Employers will be on-site to interview, hire and offer sponsorships. Professional seminars will be conducted during the Expos to enable attendees to learn more about employment opportunities, exciting projects, working and living in Australia and New Zealand, and the process of moving "down under".
"The May 2011 Expos were an overwhelming success with more than 3,000 attendees," says Rupert Merrick, event organiser with Working In Ltd. "On average each company made 15-20 offers with an average rate of acceptance of 12-15, which greatly exceeded the expectation of 5 hires per company."
While Aussie employers were impressed with the outcome, the massive roll-out of Australian LNG and other resource projects in 2011 has prompted the need to hire many more highly skilled individuals.
The September 2011 Expo features major industry players including Solid Energy, Fluor, Xstrata Coal, Arrow Energy, Ausenco, and Vale Australia, among others. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is the gold sponsor of the event.
Some of the many advantages of working in Australasia include gaining international work experience, adding exciting projects to CV's, pay rates that are on average 20% higher than Alberta, Australasia's temperate climate, beautiful landscapes, friendly people and exhilarating outdoor adventure opportunities.
Canadian Jae Bateman, Technical Services Manager with Solid Energy relocated from Victoria, BC to Hamilton, New Zealand for a number of reasons. The most important feature for Jae is that there is no fly-in fly-out to very remote work areas as is often the case in Canada. His worksite is close to home, mountains, and beaches so that he and his family can spend more time together enjoying the great outdoors and the warmer climate. Jae's employer, Solid Energy, offers career path development, excellent pay and benefits and a highly varied workstream that provides a wide breadth of experience.
According to Calgarian Shannon O'Brien, Senior Production Technologist with Arrow Energy Limited, her move to Brisbane, Australia was seamless thanks to the relocation and VISA assistance provided by her employer. She accepted the position with Arrow Energy Limited in March 2011 and was working in Australia by July 2011.
