American Media, Inc. Announces Launch of Shape France

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AMI Chairman, President and CEO, David J. Pecker, announced today that America Media, Inc. will launch a French edition of Shape, the leading health and fitness title for women, on January 20th, 2012.

The best-selling magazine in its category, Shape has more than 11 international editions, in addition to its U.S. flagship, which has a readership of more than 6 million of the youngest and most affluent in the category. Now that same passion for health and fitness will translate into one of the most exciting European magazine launches for 2012 with a distribution of 200,000 across the country, and a cover price of 2.80 Eur.

Commenting on this new launch, Mr. Pecker stated, "The Shape brand has been very successful around the world and we are pleased to bring our inspirational editorial to the women of France during a time when there is such a growing emphasis on fitness, health and well-being. No other publication currently exists in the French market, like Shape France. We have built upon the foundation of Shape US being the authoritative voice of health and fitness for women and recreated it with a French sensibility. We are confident that Shape France will resonate with its readers."

Shape France has identified the women who will become regular readers of this new edition -- those who believe health & fitness are essential to their lives and those who see it as a path to preserve their figure, femininity, and youth. There has been no time more appropriate than the present to expand the Shape brand to the French market, where women are embracing fitness more than ever as evidenced by increased health club and gym memberships across the country.

Each month, Shape France will deliver content to its readers with the same editorial integrity as its U.S. counterpart, providing the most relevant and authoritative information on fitness, health, nutrition, beauty and fashion to the ever-growing health-minded French woman.

This new edition is uniquely positioned to create a new magazine category in the French marketplace through the lens of fitness and health as an overarching theme. Narrowing this focus on each content section will unify the variety of topics and make for a cohesive and appealing reader experience.

In conjunction with the magazine, Shape France will launch a companion website that will feature content not found in the publication, as well as tapping into Shape.com's fitness and video content, all of which will be translated into French. ShapeMagazine.fr will be hosted in France and directly accessible through French search engines.

The magazine is being represented for advertising by Kamate Regie. For further information, please contact:
