"Prime Minister Netanyahu again is showing Israel's commitment to resolve the conflict through negotiations," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Will Mahmoud Abbas continue to spurn Israel's extended hand for peace, or will he finally agree to resume, without hesitation, peace talks?"
Abbas cancelled direct talks with Israel more than a year ago, and refused to meet with Netanyahu while both were in New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
The Quartet members -- U.S., EU, Russia and UN -- presented their plan to Israel and the Palestinian Authority as a means to resume peace talks and delay UN action on the unilateral Palestinian statehood bid.
