Versatile Fiber Coupled System for Biomedicine, Scientific Research, Forensics, and Specialty Displays
Laser Light Solutions, Inc. (LLS), a world leader in laser diode system integration, announced today the commercial release of the 8800-Blue laser system, the world's first turnkey, 5-watt fiber coupled blue laser diode system. The versatile laser system is designed for use in a broad range of applications including surgery, forensics, advanced displays, and optical pumping of Ti:Sa and dye lasers. LLS will introduce the product to the medical community on October 12, 2011 at the American Dental Association conference in Las Vegas, NV.
The compact 8800-Blue laser system delivers the 450 nm emission wavelength, which matches optical absorptions critical for biomedical and scientific applications. Additionally, the direct diode laser design offers end users reliable and efficient operation over a broad temperature range, as well as high-speed direct modulation capability. This provides benefits compared to expensive and fragile green and blue emitting lasers based on second harmonic solid-state laser technology, or from bulky inefficient argon-ion laser technology.
The 8800-Blue laser system features up to 5 Watts of optical power delivered through a fiber at 450nm. It is equipped with an easy to use touch screen for full intuitive control over all of the laser system parameters. Standard features also include a USB interface for ease of integration and remote control, along with built in electrical and thermal protection. Using the comprehensive built in list of remote commands, the user can create customized control software and query for system feedback. Options include a remote foot pedal and TTL control, internal high-speed modulation, power feedback and automatic power control, and customized touch screen control menus. The system is available in an OEM configuration, and permission for private labeling may be granted under license from LLS.
