NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Clean energy philanthropist Winston Chung will be the inaugural recipient of the United Nations Association of New York's award honoring outstanding social entrepreneurs pursuing philanthropic ideals and social good today, October 13, 2011 at the organization's annual gala.
The award recognizes innovative and exemplary social entrepreneurship and will be presented annually to an individual of global stature.
"The choice of Mr. Winston Chung as the first recipient of this important award recognizes his extraordinary commitment to sustainable energy solutions, thereby helping achieve the seventh of the eight UN Millennium Development Goals regarding environmental sustainability," the committee stated in announcing the new award. Other honorees are Johnson & Johnson vice-chair Sheri McCoy and supermodel & maternal health advocate Christy Turlington Burns, who will both receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award.
