Burr & Forman Nashville Partner Darlene Marsh Elected First Woman President of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that Darlene T. Marsh, Partner, has been elected President of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA). She will be inducted as the first woman president of the association at ACMA's annual meeting held Oct. 13-15 in San Diego, Calif.

Lawrence R. Ahern III, Partner, will be inducted into the College as a Fellow, and has been elected Bankruptcy Committee Co-Chair of ACMA. He will also be speaking at the annual meeting.

About Darlene T. Marsh

Marsh is a Partner in the firm's Commercial Real Estate and Banking Group, as well as the Environmental Law Group.

She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Tennessee Bar Association Environmental Law Section.

About Lawrence R. Ahern III

Ahern is a Partner in the firm's Corporate and Litigation Groups with a focus on Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy, as well as Commercial Finance and Banking.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a Director of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA). He has served as a Director of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Chairman of the American Board of Certification, Director of the Turnaround Management Association (President of the Tennessee Chapter, 1999-2001), and served on the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization (Chair, 1996-2000).

Ahern has been named to The Best Lawyers in America for 22 consecutive years in the practice areas of Business Reorganization, Creditors' Rights, and Bankruptcy Litigation. He has also been named as a leading practitioner in Bankruptcy Litigation by Chambers USA, to Mid-South Super Lawyers Tennessee list for Bankruptcy, and as one of the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar" for his work in Bankruptcy.

He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, as well as presented on various topics for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute, and many other organizations.

Outside of practicing law, Ahern currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for Secured Transactions at Vanderbilt University Law School. He was also Visiting Professor for Secured Transactions & Banking in the fall of 2002 at Cumberland School of Law and is a member of the LL.M. Bankruptcy Advisory Committee for St. John's University School of Law.

He earned both his J.D. and B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
