SelectIon Technologies Announces Opening of Sodium Methylate Production Facility

GOLDEN, Colo., Oct. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --- SelectIon Technologies, Inc., provider of ion transport and ion separation equipment for a broad range of industrial applications, announced today the completion of its on-site NaSelect' sodium methylate pilot plant. This small-scale system demonstrates to customers a robust and consistently reliable process for making high-purity sodium methylate and illustrates how it could be scaled to meet their production needs.

The NaSelect Methylate system generates extremely high-purity, ultra-low moisture SMO and enables on-site and on-demand production - eliminating the need for costly and hazardous transportation and storage. The system can be configured to produce sodium methylate for production use or for chemical sale. The system utilizes an economical electrochemical process to produce sodium methylate from sodium hydroxide and methanol. Any water generated in the process is contained on the anolyte side of the electrolysis cell. This system is proven to produce sodium methylate with less than 100 ppm moisture.

"Key players in the biodiesel industry have already expressed great interest in this technology and we are very proud to physically demonstrate this important breakthrough in sodium methylate quality and production capability," states Mark Petty, President of SelectIon Technologies. "Our ability to produce high-quality sodium methylate on-site and on-demand may be a game-changer for our customers," Petty continues.
