UW students, alumni and supporters across the globe come together to celebrate W Day
Today, T-Mobile USA and Microsoft are proud to announce their support of the University of Washington's 150th Anniversary events, as co-presenting sponsors.
The University of Washington kicked off its 150th anniversary year by showcasing a series of events and activities that honor the past and look toward the future. One of the oldest universities on the West Coast, the UW has graduated hundreds of thousands of students, led critical research discoveries, and was recently ranked 16th best university in the world by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
"Today the UW celebrates 150 years of academic excellence, community partnership and innovation," said Michael Young, president of the University of Washington. "We look forward to serving the citizens of Washington for the next 150 years with the same intensity and purpose that have characterized our first 150 years. Tomorrow, November 4, Huskies around the world will celebrate W Day. There will be a pep rally on Red Square that includes appearances by UW President Michael K. Young, Husky coaches and athletes, the Husky Marching band, cheer squad, UW mascots Harry Husky and Dubs, as well as free T-shirts and Cupcake Royale cupcakes. KJR 950 AM will broadcast live from campus.
