WHAT: Press conference to announce that Michigan is among six states that have been selected by the Obama Administration, HUD and USDA-RD to launch a new pilot program that will reduce regulatory burdens of affordable housing developers as well as help state and federal agencies' staff to better serve low-income families who rent their homes.
MSHDA, HUD and USDA-RD officials will sign a MOU that will more efficiently align federal requirements and eliminate physical inspection redundancies when rental housing projects are subsidized through more than one agency, which is often necessary to reach the lowest-income tenants. In Michigan, the agreement is expected to ease administrative overhead for hundreds of developers who operate rental properties occupied by more than 23,000 families.
