ATLANTA, Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With the lines between marketing communications disciplines continuing to blur, the industry is demanding practitioners who offer holistic expertise. Students and graduates of the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication can now gain firsthand, comprehensive multidisciplinary marketing experience through a six-month fellowship hosted by several Omnicom Group agencies including BBDO Atlanta, Porter Novelli, Ketchum and Fleishman-Hillard.
The Omnicom/Grady Future Leaders Fellowship provides a completely integrated marketing communications experience for upcoming Grady graduates. In addition to agency work in advertising and public relations, select fellows will be mentored by a representative from a third marketing discipline from companies such as Bernard Hodes Group, OMD, GO! Productions, Nancy Bailey & Associates and Changing Our World, Inc.
Speaking on behalf of participating Omnicom Group agencies, Chris Hall, president and CEO of BBDO Atlanta commented, "The dynamics in the field are changing - rapidly - and require a broader perspective and facility with advertising, public relations, social media and beyond. The Fellowship with Grady College allows for our organizations to participate in the development of top talent through this innovative program."
The Grady College already offers its students a number of high-profile internships with global companies, but The Omnicom/Grady Future Leaders Fellowship is the first program at the school to provide agency experience across the advertising, public relations and marketing disciplines.
"We've offered internships with many great companies and are excited to bring an integrated approach with top agencies to our students," said Dean Cully Clark of the Grady College. "Grady has a rich history and reputation for being forward-thinking, and this program will keep the college at the leading edge for students who want to get into the marketing profession," Clark added.
"We're looking for tomorrow's leaders right now, and this program will help us identify them. The Fellowship with Grady College is a great example of our commitment and innovation in talent recruitment and development," added Hall.
The program will welcome its first three to five fellows on Jan. 1, 2012, and it is expected that the fellowship will expand over time. Students and graduates interested in the program are encouraged to apply through Grady faculty. A review committee comprised of faculty members will select top applicants to proceed with interviews with Omnicom participating agencies.
