Scoober Creek Mitigation Bank Offsets Impacts in East Texas, Keeping Business Moving Forward
The United States Army Corps (USACE) Ft. Worth District has released wetland and stream credits from Scoober Creek Mitigation Bank. MSUSA is the exclusive broker for the bank.
Scoober Creek's service area includes the Upper and Middle Neches and the Upper and Lower Angelina watersheds in its 12-county service area. The bank is optimal for offsetting shale gas-related environmental impacts in the Haynesville Shale and impacts due to conventional oil and gas, pipeline, transportation, and infrastructure-related projects.
MSUSA represents seven mitigation banks servicing the Haynesville Shale, including Scoober Creek, Keystone, Martin Creek, Murvaul Creek, Patroon Bayou, and Rattlesnake in Texas and Bushneck Bayou in Louisiana.

Purchasing Credits from MSUSA Helps Move Energy and Infrastructure Activities Forward
"Energy industry activities such as natural gas extraction in the Haynesville Shale, pipelines, well pads, and public infrastructure projects impact wetlands and streams," explains McKenzie.
Businesses whose activities impact wetland or streams must offset those impacts to satisfy USACE 404 permitting requirements. Mitigation banks provide an ideal solution for them. "Companies purchase credits from mitigation banks because doing so is an efficient, cost-effective way for them to manage risk from environmental impacts and limit their liability," says Madrigal.
MSUSA understands the environmental mitigation process from concept and development through the sale and transfer of environmental credits, adhering strictly to regulatory requirements. The company's longstanding relationship with the team of environmental scientists at Advanced Ecology means that it also has their ecological knowledge and experience on hand to assist with mitigation solutions.
MSUSA operates on a nationwide level, with a strong presence in the South-Central United States. The firm's service area blankets most of Texas, from the upper reaches of the Brazos River Basin to the Galveston Bay, and includes four upcoming banks in Arkansas and one in Louisiana.
