Backing continues to cover a broad spectrum of interests, ranging from congressional support on Capitol Hill to national and international medical and research organizations, to veterans and labor groups, and to public health advocates.

The most recent additions joining in support of the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act, S. 752 and H.R. 1394 respectively, first-ever legislation calling for a coordinated and comprehensive federal plan to address all aspects of lung cancer include:

NEW HOUSE CO-SPONSORS

Rep. G.K. Butterfield [NC-1]
Rep. Donald Payne [NJ-10]

Rep. Carolyn Maloney [NY-14]
Rep. Jim Costa [CA-20]

NEW NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS & MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS

St. Vincent Cancer Care

This brings to date 48 national and international groups who have publicly come out in support of the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act (LCMRA). The number of Senators totals 23 and the number of Members of Congress totals 46.

"The continued growing support for federal action is particularly heartening as clearly our work this November has increased awareness about the need to see a more compassionate and comprehensive plan developed for all aspects of lung cancer", said Laurie Fenton-Ambrose, LCA President and CEO. "We are grateful to all who have responded to our outreach and have said YES - we want to work with you -- together -- to give hope to this community and improve outcomes for all who are touched by lung cancer," she said, adding that "LCA will continue to provide updates on additions to the national network of supporters."
