"We wanted to do this as a family. I have my sons Anthony, Dwayne and Mikey Jr. helping out," said Teena Cameron. "We are doing this as a family, just like the Dickey's."
Mike and his wife Teena Cameron own and operate this location in Gresham. They have three sons, Dwayne Fotta, Mike Cameron and the youngest is 15-year-old Anthony Cameron. Each family member supports the day to day activities at the store.
This is the first location for Oregon. It is located near Gresham High School and right across the street is a community park.
At the grand opening 99.5 The Wolf will be there to entertain the crowd. Customers will enjoy $1 pulled pork big barbecue sandwiches and will be able to enter into a drawing where three lucky people will win free barbecue for a year.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Since then Dickey's has grown at an exponential rate. Currently, there are 186 locations and Dickey's is said to have 200 stores open nationwide by the end of this year.
