Former Pennsylvania Wrestler Wants UFC "Hometown Throwdown" Title Shot at GIANT Center(SM) in Hershey Harrisburg Region

UFC Rising Star Phil Davis "Mr. Wonderful" has wrestling roots at Harrisburg High and Penn State University

HERSHEY, Pa., Dec. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) announced today a joint effort with Dauphin County Commissioner George Hartwick and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts® to bring a future Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event to GIANT Center(SM).

Local UFC fans can help make this happen by entering the zip code "17033" on the "Hometown Throwdown" Sweepstakes Web site http://hometownthrowdown.ufc.com sponsored by Harley-Davidson and the UFC.

UFC rising star "Mr. Wonderful" Phil Davis is a Harrisburg High School and Pennsylvania State University graduate with a current perfect 9-0-0 record in the light heavyweight class of UFC, the premier mixed martial arts organization and event promoter in the world. A video featuring the 6'2, 205 lb. fighter personally pitching his plan to bring UFC to Hershey was officially posted on HHRVB's YouTube Channel this week.

"Bringing an event of this caliber and worldwide notoriety to Dauphin County would provide a tremendous impact to the region," said Hartwick. "Phil Davis has done a great job promoting his hometown and we would love nothing more than to host him and the top fighters in the world."

In August, HHRVB Sports Marketing Manager Gregg Cook, Commissioner Hartwick and representatives from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts® attended UFC 133 in Philadelphia when talks of bringing UFC to Hershey became a reality. Cook personally delivered the video, along with an informational package highlighting GIANT Center(SM) and the entire Hershey Harrisburg region, to the UFC headquarters in Las Vegas in October.

At Penn State University, Davis finished his career with a 116-17 record and was a NCAA Division I champion in 2008. Davis also posted a 112-17 record in his career at Harrisburg High School.

UFC has had more than 190 events in the United States and around the world since its inception in 1993.
