Recent Grants Cover Use of Voice in Mobile and Advertising Applications
VoiceBox® Technologies Corp., the award-winning innovator of Personal Assistant voice interface technology, today announced that it was grantedtwo additional US Patents in the areas of mobile voice technology and advertising applications. These grants further support the Company's competitive advantage in the growing Personal Assistant software market.
To date, VoiceBox has had 14 patents issued and received notice of allowance for another 6.An additional 11 patents are pending.Together with Apple's Siri, VoiceBox has the deepest patent portfolio in the voice personal assistant market.
While the use of voice as part of a device interface is beginning to show traction in the marketplace, VoiceBox was an early pioneer. Its initial vision of a single, personalizedinterface utilizing a new generation of voice technology across an ever diversifying range of consumer devices remains the foundation of the Company's strategy.
"We feel fortunate to have articulated our vision early on and align our intellectual property strategy at the outset," said Mike Kennewick, VoiceBox Technologies co-founder and CEO. "While the patents for our core differentiating Contextual Speech and Conversational Voice technology were received in 2008, these grants extend our protection in the use of voice in mobile 'connected devices,' including the use of personalized, targeted advertising."
"We're proud that our strong, growing patent portfolio aligns itself to key industry trends. When we started, many questioned whether consumers wanted to 'talk' to their devices.Since then, voice has continued to become accepted as a key part of a device interface, particularly as computing has gone more mobile. And peoples' expectations of increasing personalization has driven the quickly emerging Personal Assistant trend," said Kennewick. He noted the increased activity VoiceBox is getting from prospects and many of its customers; VoiceBox is used in cars and devices such as Toyota, Lexus, TomTom, Chrysler, Pioneer, Dodge and Magellan.
"We credit Apple for proving consumer acceptance of the Personal Assistant interface with its launch of Siri.Prior to this, it was unclear whether consumers were ready for the kind of innovative interface VoiceBox's patented technology can drive.Since then, we've been flooded with requests to employ the more advanced personalization capabilities of our technology to create Personal Assistant applications."
