Raleigh, NC - In celebration of the holiday that honors the slain Civil Rights leader, NCAE will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. banquet on Friday, January 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the NCAE Center in Raleigh. Keynote speaker for the event is Tim Tyson, the author of the autobiographical "Blood Done Sign My Name," which was also made into a major motion picture of the same title.
NCAE will also announce the winners of its 2012 Multicultural Arts Contest and the 2012 Excellence in Equity Award winner. The categories for the contest entries are artwork, short stories, poetry, essays, quiz books and teaching units for minority awareness. The Excellence in Equity Award honors one or more individuals or groups for long-term dedication, commitment and energy toward the goal of making North Carolina a more equitable community.
