ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Morrow Technologies, a leader in innovative digital signage experiences and the makers of JANUS Displays, today announces the launch of a new interactive touchscreen solution recently installed on campus at the USF College of Nursing. The system was well received in a presentation to USF leadership during a lunchtime demonstration Thursday, January 5, 2012.
"The College of Nursing was proud to be the first at the University of South Florida to use the interactive touch screen technology in an inclusive electronic way-finding and messaging system," said Dianne Morrison-Beedy, PhD, RN, WHNP-BC, FNAP, FAANP, FAAN, Senior Associate Vice President of USF Health, and Dean of the College of Nursing. "USF and the College of Nursing value innovation and collaboration and this project embodied both. The use of technology has changed the way we operate and provide messages to our internal clients. Our partnership with all the vendors involved, especially JANUS Displays, has proven to be a great collaborative effort."
As the USF team collaborated both internally and with the digital display design specialists for Morrow Technologies, they began to unlock the true potential JANUS Displays can deliver. The system ultimately provided not only the critical message displays, but also interactive campus wayfinding, a searchable staff directory, an event schedule as pulled from their own Microsoft Outlook calendar, a link to the Urban Spoon website, weather updates, and even a link to a live feed showing where all on-campus "Bull Run" buses are in real-time.
The USF College of Nursing and USF Health IT groups achieved their goals with an aesthetically pleasing, functional system that is well-accepted on campus. They hope to expand the use of the interactive touchscreen display system beyond their own college. The vision has grown to unify all colleges in the University with a consistent interface to the internal messaging system that delights all who touch it.
Representatives of the USF College of Nursing, USF Health Information Technology and JANUS Displays were on hand to demonstrate the new digital signage solution to USF leadership at a luncheon, sponsored by Morrow Technologies.
