Alliant Energy Chairman and CEO William D. Harvey Announces Retirement

MADISON, Wis., Jan. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Alliant Energy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William D. Harvey announced his intent to retire from the company effective March 31, 2012. Harvey has spent 25 years with Alliant Energy, and its predecessor WPL Holdings, and has served as Chairman and CEO for the last six years, leading the transformation of the company back to a top performing utility.

The Board of Directors appointed Patricia L. Kampling, 52, to succeed Harvey. Kampling was also appointed as a member of the Board of Directors effective January 20, 2012. Kampling will become Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairperson of the Board of Alliant Energy, effective April 1, 2012.

Kampling joined the company in 2005 and is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer. She served as Chief Financial Officer from January 2009 to February 2011, as Treasurer from January 2007 to January 2009 and Vice President of Finance from July 2005 to January 2007.

Prior to joining Alliant Energy, Kampling spent over 20 years serving in various finance, regulatory, and engineering positions at ComEd and other subsidiaries of Exelon Corporation. Kampling has a B.S. in Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College, and a MBA from the University of Chicago.
