- According to a yet unreleased study by Deloitte, Florida employs the fourth most aerospace and defense workers in the nation and has the sixth highest payroll at more than $3.3 billion.
- Florida has already lost thousands of high-skilled, high-paying jobs with the retirement of the space shuttle this past year.
- According to a study by George Mason's Dr. Stephen Fuller, sequestration cuts to defense alone will cost an additional 39,000 jobs in Florida and over one million jobs nationwide.
- Sequestration will affect not only defense, but FAA and NASA as well, putting further stress on an already hard-hit industry that is critical to this state.
AIA is asking that the candidates for the Republican nomination deliver specific plans for dealing with the devastating impact of defense cuts on our economy and our national security in Florida, a state that has an enormous stake in keeping America second to none in aerospace and defense.
