Hospice Organizes Flag Donation and Dedication for Veterans

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --On February 29th at 3:00 p.m., St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center will be presented with an American flag for its Veteran residents in a color guard ceremony at 936 Charbonier Road, Florissant, Mo. The flag, donated by VFW Post 3206 and the St. Louis Recruiting Company of the United States Army, will replace a flag that had been missing for over one year after being destroyed at a dry cleaning facility.

The flag replacement was facilitated by the We Honor Veterans program staff at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care in St. Louis. The program ensures end-of-life care is provided with special sensitivity and skill for Veteran conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that have intensified during treatment for their terminal illness

"We're dedicated to honoring veterans in our community," says Dawn Mullins, RN, MHA, Executive Director of Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. "This dedication is our organizational value and part of our national partnership with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Veterans Administration in the We Honor Veterans program."

"It is a privilege to honor our past, present and future Veterans," comments Christine Plattner, LPN, LNHA, Administrator of St. Sophia Rehabilitation Center.
