USPlabs Shares Results of Seven Peer-Reviewed DMAA Safety Studies as Part of Scientific Review on Jack3d' and OxyElite Pro

DALLAS, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --USPlabs products Jack3d' and OxyElite Pro® are among the most studied finished dietary supplements ever sold. The dietary supplements have been the subject of five peer-reviewed, published clinical trials supporting their safe use when used as directed. Two additional studies were conducted on DMAA. In total, 102 subjects participated in the peer-reviewed clinical studies. Additionally, an estimated one billion plus servings of DMAA-containing dietary supplements have been consumed by satisfied customers.

The seven clinical studies are as follows:

OxyElite Pro® 8 Week Study
In a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial, 32 subjects consisting of men and women ingested either OxyElite Pro® or a placebo each day for a period of 8 weeks, following the instructions that are found on the label for use. At baseline and at the end of the 8 week period, heart rate, blood pressure and markers of kidney and liver function were assessed. In addition, the effects of OxyElite Pro® on fat mass, bodyweight and appetite were also measured.

Over the course of 8 weeks, no statistically significant change was found in heart rate, blood pressure or markers of kidney and liver function.

Additionally, when compared to baseline, using a student's t-test, a statistically significant change did occur for fat mass, bodyweight and appetite, with all values decreasing over time with use. The supplement was well-tolerated overall and no serious adverse events were noted.

Jack3d' 10 Week Study
In a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial, 25 healthy men ingested either Jack3d' or a placebo on days when they exercised for a period of 10 weeks. At baseline and at the end of the 10 week period, heart rate, blood pressure and markers of kidney and liver function were assessed.

Over the course of 10 weeks, no statistically significant increase in heart rate, blood pressure or any markers of kidney and liver function. The supplement was well-tolerated and no adverse events were noted.

Acute OxyElite Pro® Study
In an acute, single dose study, 12 subjects consisting of healthy, exercise-trained men and women were given either placebo or OxyElite Pro® on separate occasions as part of a double-blind, cross-over study.

The results of the study found that in addition to increasing markers of lipolysis, the supplement was well tolerated and no serious adverse events were noted.

Jack3d' 2 Week Study
In an open-label trial, 7 men consumed Jack3d' daily for a period of two weeks. At baseline and at the end of the two week period, heart rate, blood pressure and markers of kidney and liver function were assessed.

The results of this study found that 14 days of consumption did not result in any change in heart rate, blood pressure or any indicators of kidney or liver function. No serious adverse events were noted. Additionally, an acute assessment of heart rate and blood pressure was carried out. This found no statistically significant change in absolute heart rate or blood pressure.

OxyElite Pro® 2 Week Study
In an open-label trial, 4 men and 2 women consumed OxyElite Pro® daily for a period of two weeks. At baseline and at the end of the two week period, heart rate, blood pressure and markers of kidney and liver function were assessed.

The results of this study found that 14 days of consumption did not result in any change in heart rate, blood pressure or any indicators of kidney or liver function. No serious adverse events were noted. In addition, an acute assessment of heart rate and blood pressure was carried out. This found that only systolic blood pressure was increased to a statistically significant degree, though it was mild and transient.

Acute DMAA Study
In a randomized, double-blind, crossover study, 10 subjects consisting of healthy men and women ingested varying doses of DMAA alone and combined with caffeine.

Of great interest was the fact that DMAA, at a dose of 50 mg, produced nearly the same effects upon heart rate and blood pressure as the effects seen with a 250 mg dose of caffeine. This is the amount of caffeine found in 2-3 cups of coffee. No serious adverse events were noted.

Acute DMAA Study with Exercise
In a randomized, double-blind, crossover study, 12 subjects consisting of healthy men and women ingested varying doses of DMAA alone and combined with caffeine just prior to a 10 km run. Of interest was the fact that DMAA either alone or when combined with caffeine, had no distinguishable effects from placebo with respect to perceived exertion or heart rate while performing the run. While systolic blood pressure increased slightly in the DMAA group, the increase was similar to that seen with the amount of caffeine found in 2-3 cups of coffee. No serious adverse events were noted.
