Kandy Magazine, a New Men's Lifestyle Magazine, Partners with iMirus to Release iPad App Visually Optimized for New iPad

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Kandy Magazine, a new lifestyle magazine focused on social insight and activities for men, recently partnered with iMirus to develop a Kandy branded iPad app.

Issue 5, featuring cover model DJ Colleen Shannon, was the first Kandy Magazine issue specifically designed with the new iPad in mind and its "retina" display. To maximize the benefits of the screen resolution of the new iPad, Kandy Magazine increased the resolution of the images in Colleen's pictorial, delivering the best print quality images in a tablet magazine to date.

"As an independent publisher we took a look at the different options available to us to compete with the larger, multiple title publishers. It was apparent that developing an app for Apple's Newsstand was the best approach. To that end, it was extremely important our title was represented in the App Store and not the name of the digital-content provider. iMirus provided us with a Kandy branded app and, in our opinion, the best selection of in-app features compared to competing providers!" Ron Kuchler, founder of Kandy, said in a press release.

The Kandy App features in-app social media integration, in-app media libraries, pinch-to-zoom, vertical scroll and easy navigation menus. Besides the standard magazine scroll viewer, the Kandy app provides readers the menu option of viewing content by category as well as viewing content by media type. In addition to their in-app page ads, advertisers receive additional exposure in the ads category, accessible with a single tap of the screen by the reader.

"We are very excited to be partnering with Kandy Magazine. This is a new and hip men's lifestyle publication, full of great photography and information. Their demographic is certainly of the iPad generation, and we are very pleased that they chose iMirus as their digital-content technology provider," stated iMirus CEO, Chris Riggs.

To celebrate the release of the iPad app, the first 100,000 in-app downloads of issue 5 of Kandy Magazine are complimentary.
