Spring = Construction = Worker Injuries

CHICAGO, April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Construction season is here. Along with the building of our roads and the maintenance of our nation's physical infrastructure, comes the risk of injury to the nearly 6.5 million people who work at approximately 252,000 construction sites across the nation on any given day (Occupational Safety & Health Administration).

Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers recognizes that construction work includes many hazardous tasks and conditions that have the potential for injury and illness -such as work at height, excavations, noise, power tools and equipment, confined spaces and electricity. As a result, Accelerated offers a comprehensive Industrial Rehabilitation Program that includes a wide variety of industrial therapy and rehabilitation services for work-related injuries across all industries. The program promises to return injured workers to their jobs quickly and safely.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 3.3 million nonfatal injuries and illnesses reported in all industries in 2009, of which almost 95 percent were injuries and just over 5 percent were illnesses. Construction workers experienced the seventh-highest rate of nonfatal injuries and illnesses requiring days away from work of all occupations.

The Accelerated team of therapists and ergonomic specialists is well trained with solid testing skills, manual therapy expertise, and ergonomic certifications. Accelerated works closely with each individual, using an interdisciplinary approach that is tailored to the very specific needs of the injured workers. We emphasize return-to-work strategies and encourage communication among employees, employers, and insurance companies.

"The Accelerated Industrial Rehabilitation team has an extraordinary level of understanding, skill and experience," said Beth Healy,Vice President, Marketing/Occupational Health, Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers. "Our program is designed to not only offer injured workers an exceptional quality of care and a quick return to their jobs, but also to make the process less costly and more efficient for employers, insurance companies, case managers, and physicians."

Research and experience has shown that using programs such as the Accelerated Industrial Rehabilitation Program reduces work-related injuries, decreases the severity and frequency of workers' compensation claims, as well as improves employee morale and productivity.
