PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 04/18/12 -- Whether your interest in Near Field Communication (NFC) comes from a technical or business standpoint, you will have plenty of options in the diverse agenda planned for the Smart Card Alliance's NFC Solutions Summit 2012. During the full four-day agenda, industry leaders will discuss both payments and non-payments uses of NFC-enabled devices, and in the unique "open conference" day session you can even present your own mini-session on any NFC topic. Details about the event, attendees, exhibitors, and agenda for the pre-conference workshops and the conference are now available at http:///www.smartcardalliance.org/nfcsolutions.
The Summit, held by the Smart Card Alliance in partnership with the NFC Forum, will take place May 22 - 24, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel in Burlingame, California. The pre-conference workshop day will be on May 21st.
"This conference format is unique in that there is something for all NFC industry stakeholders, regardless of education level or business focus. They can attend as listeners, or lead sessions as experts," said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. "At a time when it is still unclear if 2012 will be the year that NFC reaches mass market consumers, this conference will be the venue to discuss and work out the issues that are challenging the adoption of NFC for payments and non-payments use cases."
The Summit will include comprehensive topics covering the state of the technology, developments in new NFC devices and applications, the status of the growing NFC ecosystem, the promise of NFC-enabled payments, marketing, access control and other popular use cases applications, NFC implementation guidance, and North American and international experiences with NFC pilots and implementations. These topics will be led by a selection of international mobile and NFC experts, discussion panels, and multi-speaker track panels.
The conference begins on May 22nd with a full day of plenary keynote speakers and roundtable panel sessions. On the second day, attendees will be invited to choose from multi-speaker panel sessions separated into NFC Technology and NFC Business Solutions tracks. Day three of the Summit will be an innovative open conference format, using a facilitator to enlist attendees to propose self-organizing sessions and presentations in areas dealing with NFC technology and business adoption issues and opportunities.
Highlights of the keynote session topics include:
- Sizing Up The Market For NFC-Enabled Mobile Devices and Applications
- NFC Mobile Payments: Are We There Yet?
- NFC Beyond Payments: Will Identity and Data Exchange Services Outshine the Wallet?
- Making the Case for NFC Payment Services with Merchants?
- Using GlobalPlatform Standards for Keeping NFC Users and Applications Secure
- NFC for Identity Credentialing and Access Control
- Lessons Learned from International NFC Cities
To provide more choices for attendees to further their knowledge of NFC technology and applications, the Smart Card Alliance is hosting three separate full-day pre-conference workshops on May 21st. "NFC Base Camp: The Fundamentals of NFC Mobile Technology and Business Applications Workshop" is intended for business managers involved in NFC services, while "NFC Base Camp: NFC Mobile Technology and Standards Workshop" is intended for technology managers involved in applying NFC technology on mobile devices.
The third workshop is for payments industry professionals seeking to earn the first certification dedicated to smart card-based payments -- the Smart Card Alliance Certified Smart Card Industry Professional/Payments (CSCIP/P) credential. The instructor-led training course will prepare individuals who have applied to take the CSCIP/P exam on Wednesday, May 23rd. Part of the Alliance's Leadership, Education and Advancement Program (LEAP), CSCIP/P is an extension of the Certified Smart Card Industry Professional (CSCIP) certification designation.
