The Lambda Alpha International (LAI) Society, an international honorary society for the advancement of land economics, recently inducted landscape architect Bob Kost from Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®). For the past nine years Bob has served as the Practice Center Leader of Planning and Landscape Architecture at SEH, and is a LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Community Planner, and a Licensed Landscape Architect in Minnesota and Indiana.
Founded in 1930, the LAI has more than 2,000 members worldwide with more than 25 local chapters. To be considered for induction, LAI members must have achieved professional distinction with a minimum of 10 years experience, made outstanding contributions to the advancement of land economics, and distinguished themselves in the community through public service. Membership is by invitation only; potential members must be nominated by active members and vetted by local membership. The Minnesota Chapter is composed of planning and design consultants, land use attorneys, and related professionals from public agencies.
Some of Bob's most recent work includes the new veteran's memorial for the City of Edina, Minnesota, the development of a new form-based zoning code for the city of Mason City, Iowa, and a design for the Mississippi River Bridge Plaza on the University of Minnesota campus recognized with a 2012 Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects Minnesota Chapter. Bob received his bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois and is a frequent guest lecturer and design critic at the University of Minnesota College of Design.
