Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Alion Science and Technology to Help Increase Organizational Efficiency and Minimize IT Spending
In line with the Federal government's Cloud-First Strategy, the Department of Labor is leading efforts to use GSA-approved cloud services for enterprise case and content management services. To support the Department of Labor in this effort, Washington Consulting, Inc. (WCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Alion Science and Technology, will work with prime contractor CGI Federal Inc. (CGI) to deliver an enterprise case and content management solution on a cloud-based platform.
This project is the first case and content management solution to be deployed in a General Services Administration-approved cloud environment. As a primary subcontractor to CGI on the project, WCI will lead the case and content system integration efforts using EMC's Documentum xCP platform to enable the Department of Labor to automate paper-intensive processes including case management, document management, records management, workflow management and business intelligence.
The cloud-based solution will be scalable, highly configurable, promote reusable components and contain a business process management component to address workflow and reporting needs. The initial deployment, known as the Federal Contract Compliance System, will address the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs' need to update its existing system and modernize process capabilities and reporting.
"The cloud approach provides a lower cost of ownership and eliminates the need for on-site technical infrastructure. By improving Department of Labor's operational and mission-specific processes, the information-sharing within the department and with other organizations will be greatly enhanced," said Marty Brennan, WCI's President. "The accessibility and reusability aspects of the cloud-based solution further contribute to the Department of Labor's ability to increase automation while helping to reduce costs."
