NSI Leadership Participates in First U.S. Private Sector Delegation to Free Libya

Delegation of leading American companies and private sector organizations visited Libya to discuss reconstruction and economic priorities with national and local officials

ISTANBUL, May 8, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Senior leaders from NASA Services International (NSI) participated in a 20-member trade and investment delegation to Libya from April 20 to April 28. NSI leadership, including NSI President Mustafa Namli and Chief Operating Officer Tom Poston, met with top Libyan government officials and representatives of the private sector to discuss how NSI and other companies can help address Libyan priorities in the reconstruction and economic development of the nation. The delegation was sponsored by the U.S. Libya Business Association (USLBA), the only U.S. trade association focused solely on the United States and Libya. The delegates were joined by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Jose Fernandez and U.S. Ambassador to Libya Gene Cretz.

In meetings with the delegation, Libyan leaders discussed the immediate need for fast, nimble support services for the country's recovering oil & natural gas industry. They also emphasized the need for construction and engineering support as the country rebuilds its infrastructure - which fell into disrepair under Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's government and was further damaged during the 2011 revolution.

"As the Libyan government, companies and citizens rebuild their nation, companies like NSI have a role to play," said Poston. "Our decades of experience providing diverse contracting solutions in conflict zones and remote, isolated areas throughout the Middle East and Africa means NSI is well-equipped to provide the on-the-ground oil & gas and infrastructure support services that are so greatly needed in Libya right now."

The delegation was the first of its kind to visit Libya after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's government. The group of leading companies and NGOs visited both Tripoli and Benghazi and met with more than 100 national and local Libyan leaders, including Prime Minister Abdurrahim El-Keib.

Headquartered in Turkey, NSI also has an office in the United States.
