BOSTON, May 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists has recognized Bunker Hill Community College science and engineering students Alejandra Marin, Lewis Taveras, Ana Keough, Hudson Gloria, Kamila Souza and Luis Rodrigues for academic achievement. The Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists is the Boston chapter of MAES, a national organization founded to promote, cultivate, and honor excellence in education and leadership among Latino engineers and scientists.
The six Bunker Hill Community College students were honored along with freshmen and sophomores from MIT, Harvard University, Tufts University, Suffolk University, Boston University, Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell at an awards celebration held on April 23, 2012, at the Microsoft Horace Mann Conference Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Engineering majors Gloria, Keough and Souza and biology major Rodrigues are planning to transfer to four-year institutions in fall of 2012. Marin and Taveras are engineering majors who will graduate in May 2013.
All award recipients will be offered mentorship and advocacy through graduate school and career placement.
