B.R.T. and FHR Farms, Inc. are getting more with less on the farm by using the right technologies
IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference, a first-of-its-kind event where interconnected ag solutions providers, precision ag users and producer thought leaders will meet to share ideas on the future of connected agriculture, will feature a wide range of speakers and industry sponsors who will talk about the interconnected farm and how precision ag plays a key role.
According Jeff Littrell, vice president of B.R.T. and FHR Farms, Inc., it's not about getting a bigger farm to move ahead, but instead it's about doing more with less. To hear more about Littrell's operation, go to the IDEAg Video Network and check out the video series with B.R.T. and FHR Farms, Inc.
"I never would have figured [farming] would have gone where it is," says Littrell. "We don't have the opportunity to make more land, so we have to make more yield off the same acre. If you're going to depreciate equipment, you might as well do it over the same acre and get more yield, that's the long and short of it."
According to Littrell, precision ag today involves more than just the equipment on the farm; it also involves things like nutrient placement.
"I want to do more with less," says Littrell. "Precision ag is more than just equipment, it's all focusing, all encompassing, taking it to the next level, which is precision in conjunction with nutrient placement technology. The two together make for better farmers."
Littrell farms on his home farm in Chatfield, Minnesota, and has studied for over 20 years working and formulating liquid and dry fertilizers, building soil programs, and using the Morgan and the CEC soil test.
Littrell will be part of the "Agronomy Panel: Soil, Seeds, Fertilizer, Crop Protection Chemicals" at the IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference, June 25-27, in Altoona , IA. IDEAg's Interconnectivity Conference is an educational forum that provides information and allows discussion on the complexities of our interconnected age.
The IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference is sponsored by Platinum Sponsors - John Deere, Slingshot by Raven and AT&T. Gold sponsors include Trimble and Ag Integrated; Silver sponsors include SST Software and Wells Fargo; and Bronze sponsors include United Soils, AgSync and FHR.
