Honoring its role as an official education provider to Team USA, DeVry University will bring the thrill of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to select communities it serves
As part of its partnership with the United States Olympic Committee, DeVry University has announced it will host six Road to London tour stops at various campus locations across the country. Over two months, the Road to London Tour – a traveling, family-friendly event that brings the energy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to local communities – will visit DeVry University locations in the following metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
Road to London Tour events offer activities for attendees to test their strength, speed, precision, Paralympic skills, endurance and flexibility, as well as observe demonstrations and visits from Olympians, Paralympians and hopefuls. Team USA celebrated the 100-day countdown to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games at a Road to London tour stop in Times Square on April 18, 2012 in New York.
"The Road to London tour stops are an extension of our partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee. They bring an interactive Olympic experience to DeVry University communities, educating attendees about the challenges and excitement that make the Olympic games special," said David Pauldine, president of DeVry University. "From testing their own athletic skills to interacting with USOC athletes, including Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls, guests will leave with unforgettable memories."
"The Road to London Tour is all about sharing the magic of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the spirit of our amazing athletes with the American public," said Lisa Baird, USOC chief marketing officer. "This program allows us to bring the Olympic experience directly to fans, while introducing them to the full program of Olympic and Paralympic sports in a fun and interactive way. We thank DeVry University for helping our fans get to know America's athletes and experience the excitement of the Games."
As an official education provider of Team USA, DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management provide higher education opportunities at undergraduate and graduate levels, including scholarships and a dedicated DeVry staff, for U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls through 2016.
