CMC Energy Services Founder Doris Ikle Retires After 35 Years

BETHESDA, Md., May 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CMC Energy Services (cmcenergy.com), a pioneer in providing residential energy-efficiency services nationwide, announces a major leadership change today with the retirement of founder and industry leader Doris Ikle. The company's new leadership now includes Mimi Ikle-Khalsa as the chair of the board, making it a second-generation, woman-owned business. Eileen McGinnis will continue as president.

Doris Ikle served as CMC Energy's (CMC) chief innovation officer for the last three years and is stepping down this month from her 35-year post as CEO, CIO and chair of the board.

With dedication and expertise, Ikle has built the company from a single employee to a skilled staff of 95 analysts, administrators, auditors and weatherization technicians providing home energy efficiency.

"Building this company from modest beginnings to one with a national reputation gives me great joy," Ikle said. "However, I am even more gratified that I can turn over the company to two talented, astute and hard-working businesswomen, whose cooperative spirit and common goals played a vital role in the company's recent financial success."

Doris Ikle's daughter, Mimi Ikle-Khalsa, has for the past year worked closely with McGinnis to prepare for this transition. She became a CMC board member in 2009 and joined CMC management a year ago. Before joining CMC, she spent 15 years at the helm of her own businesses, which she continues to operate.

"Doris has been more than a role model for me," says Mimi Ikle-Khalsa. "We have spent an enormous amount of time discussing the industry and how CMC could continue to grow and serve our customers. I had the best mentor possible, and this is why I look forward to the challenges and opportunities of guiding this company."

McGinnis, of Pennington, N.J., was a founding partner and senior vice president of The Whitman Strategy Group, a consulting firm based in Princeton, N.J., and Washington, D.C., specializing in environmental, energy and sustainability issues. McGinnis also served as chief of staff to Christine Todd Whitman, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

"Doris has left a legacy with CMC of meeting the energy challenge upfront with a practical, efficient, effective energy conservation strategy," says McGinnis. "We intend to build on the foundation Doris created and envision a new era of growth with profitable ideas for our customers."
