Social Software Industry Veteran and Socialtext's General Manager to Execute Product and Market Vision and Drive Growth
Socialtext, a leading enterprise social software provider, announced today the appointment of Michael Idinopulos as General Manager of the business. For more than five years, Mr. Idinopulos has been the chief customer-facing officer at Socialtext. Informed by broad customer experiences and a deep understanding of the social software marketplace, Mr. Idinopulos has been instrumental in both setting product direction and building a strong vision for Socialtext.
"Through impressive customer and market knowledge, Michael has had a tremendously strong impact on the success of Socialtext during his tenure," said Charles S. Jones, Chairman of Socialtext. "Supporting Michael's thought leadership and customer-centric agenda, we intend to increase investment in product management and development, more than tripling the current development spend over the next year. I have every confidence in his strategic focus and am delighted with today's appointment and with what I know is to come for our customers and employees."
Previously, as Vice President of Professional Services and Customer Success at Socialtext, Mr. Idinopulos has extensive customer knowledge of social platforms and an informed perspective on product direction and business growth opportunities. Prior to his move to Socialtext, Mr. Idinopulos was with McKinsey and Company in New York. At McKinsey, he architected and executed some of the earliest enterprise-sized deployments of social software. He also led the design and development team that conceived and built the company's own internal knowledge transfer and collaboration platform, which became a model design and use-case for McKinsey clients seeking similar global collaboration and information sharing capability.
Mr. Idinopulos received a B.A. with highest honors in Philosophy from The University of Chicago and a Ph. D. in Philosophy from University of California, Berkeley. He writes "The Transparent Office" blog and the Socialtext blog regularly, speaks frequently at industry events and leadership summits and is widely published.
Mr. Idinopulos will be responsible for worldwide management and operations of Socialtext, reporting directly to Mr. Jones. Eugene Lee, previous CEO of Socialtext will be leaving the business to seek new opportunities.
