Regulatory News:
Faiveley Transport (Paris:LEY) has been awarded the world's first project for the retrofit of platform screen doors for line 1 of the metro in Lille, France.
Lille Métropole Communauté Urbaine (LMCU - The City of Lille) has chosen Faiveley Transport to replace and install new platform screen doors on 18 stations (36 platforms). This is part of a project to double the metro's capacity and lengthen the platforms from 26 to 52 metres.
"In 1989, Faiveley Transport installed its first platform doors in Lille and winning this retrofit contract in 2012 is proof of the renewed confidence that LMCU has shown in Faiveley Transport," said Benoît Birault, Director of the PSD Business Unit. The technical environment is particularly complex leaving only 3 hours of installation time at night to ensure that metros will continue to operate throughout the installation period. "We have developed a new turn key solution to adhere to these specific customer specifications," continued Benoît Birault.
"We are well positioned to win future retrofit contracts for platform screen doors worldwide," said Thierry Barel, President & CEO of Faiveley Transport.
The installation period is due to start in November 2013.
