This contest started on May 31, 2012 and gives a shareholder 1 ballot for each 1,000 shares owned for 30 consecutive days. The greater the number of shares owned, and the longer they are owned, the better the chances to win. For example 10,000 shares owned for 90 consecutive days qualifies for 30 ballots. And since Enertopia is a small company with a relatively small number of shareholders, each shareholder's chances of winning are much higher than they would be in many other more well-known contests.
The grand prize of up to US$1,000,000 will be paid through a 1.0% production payment from commercial production at the Copper Hills, New Mexico project. The 1.0% production payment covers all 76 located mining claims currently held by Enertopia in Socorro County as at May 15, 2012. In the event that Copper Hills property is sold by Enertopia prior to production, the production payment will be capped at the rate of 10$% of any amount of the first $10 million received by Enertopia. The 1,150 acre Copper Hills property in New Mexico is one of Enertopia's two properties located in the heart of America's historic mining regions, the other being the Mildred Peak property in Arizona. There are extensive copper oxides visible at the surface at Copper Hills over a continuous distance of 130 metres. A second exposure about 140 metres to the north contains visually similar mineralization. One can observe oxidized mineralization extending beyond these high-profile showings, to the north, east and west.
Enertopia earlier released a NI 43-101 Technical Report, available on Sedar.com, which mentions that historic records report 350 tons grading 3 ounces silver and .81% copper were removed from this area. The company's first priority is to delineate a near surface economic copper and silver deposit. An IP/Res survey completed in 2011 revealed several sulphide targets at depth, the largest measuring 900 metres by 500 metres.
Following a recent trip to both properties, President Robert McAllister stated, "We are excited that as we continue to advance Copper Hills and Mildred Peak we keep finding key positive signs in the geology that supports our view of the potential value of these projects and the significant merit of continued exploration and drilling."
The company intends to conduct exploration drilling to determine how extensive these grades really are, and recently announced its intention to complete a non-brokered private placement consisting of a maximum of 25 million units at US$0.10 per unit, to advance both projects.
Over on the Mildred Peak property, Altar Resources, the property vendor, has completed five diamond drill holes, with the objective of outlining a shallow gold/silver resource. Four of these holes twinned historic exploration drill holes. This drill program is taking place on land covering about 1,260 acres, upon which Enertopia maintains a right of first refusal, and is adjacent to Enertopia's initial 100% optioned lands, which cover 7,148 acres. Mildred Peak has several excellent targets and is within a one hour drive of three producing copper mines.
The company has an 8.25% equity investment in Pro Eco Energy USA Ltd., a clean technology energy company involved in designing, developing and installing solar energy solutions. The company also has a 8.56% equity investment in GSWPS, a clean technology company involved in designing, developing and installing solar PV and thermal energy solutions, water filtration systems, and energy recovery design.
