ATLANTA, July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --Arclin, a leading provider of innovative bonding and surfacing solutions for the building industry, today announced that it has acquired the North American Operations of Coveright Surfaces, including manufacturing facilities in Cobourg, Ontario and Blythewood, South Carolina.
With this acquisition, Arclin increases its capabilities to supply decorative surface overlays, including decorative melamine, laminate flooring films and phenolic films, used largely in the manufacture of furniture, cabinetry, fixtures and flooring. The combined company will offer an extensive portfolio of overlay products manufactured at five facilities, one located in Canada and four in the United States.

The demand for decorative surface overlays, also called thermo-fused melamine (TFM) is increasing in North America, said Taylor. "Downstream markets are increasingly looking for high performing, cost effective surfacing solutions," he said, adding that the acquisition was driven by Arclin and Coveright's mutual desire to meet further projected increases in demand for these products as the economy gradually improves.
Decorative surfaces also meet growing market requirements for environmentally sustainable products. Arclin's decorative overlays are GREENGUARD for Children & Schools(sm)-certified, meeting the highest standards for low emissions, and are manufactured in FSC chain of custody-certified facilities. Decorative overlays may also contribute to LEED credits for indoor air quality, as designated by the US Green Building Council.
Coveright operations in South America are not affected by this transaction. Terms of the transaction were not released.
