Wildfire Risk Report Urges Continued Vigilance through September

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A division of the National Interagency Fire Center called Predictive Services issued a serious warning in June about the need for watchfulness and quality fire protection services all summer long. A small sliver of the South Atlantic region can expect a lower-than-average wildfire risk. The rest of the United States, however, can expect average to above average wildfire hazards until the end of September. Hotter, drier weather in most parts of the country is probably to blame. In addition to the San Joaquin Valley and Southern Sierra areas of Central California, Southern California's foothills are at elevated risk.

Al Hernandez of Fire Protection Group, Inc. is realistic about what this means. "There'll be more fires," he says. "Fire protection systems aren't going to change that." But there's good news, he says. "What a fire protection contractor focuses on is buying the firefighters time when a blaze hits, and making the building easier to escape from." These tangible safety goals are crucial for understanding the nature of the fire sprinkler and fire protection systems all around you.

It's more critical than ever to install residential fire sprinklers in your home, and do everything you can to ensure that you're ready in case a fire does happen. In the event that an area has multiple fires at once, or a large blaze taxing firefighters' resources, you can do a great deal to ensure that they'll be able to do their jobs right.

"First of all, have your NFPA testing done in a timely fashion," says George Saadian, Chief Engineer and General Manager of Fire Protection Group, Inc. "Getting contractors in to test your standpipes, and sprinklers isn't just about keeping in good standing with your insurance company. It's the best thing you can do to help building occupants."

Of course, when work needs to be done, you should choose wisely. With over a century of combined experience, and the consulting power of a former deputy fire chief (Al Hernandez), and one of the men responsible for rewriting some of the guidelines that are protecting you right now (George Saadian), Fire Protection Group, Inc. packs some serious brain power.

Your home or building is at risk if you aren't protecting it. Fire sprinkler systems, fire escapes, alarms, backup generators, exterior standpipes, fire pumps and more are designed and tested in-house. Fire Protection Group, will also perform fire watch at any event or gathering that requires the presence of a licensed fire protection engineer.

So as the summer heat continues to rage and wildfire risk increases, look after your own safety as well as that of your community with the help of a great fire protection company. Keeping you safe is what Fire Protection Group, Inc. does.
