DALLAS, Aug. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --AT&T* today announced that while a settlement was not reached with the Communications Workers of America by the 11:59 p.m. EDT Aug. 4 expiration of the core wireline contract in the Southeast region, the company and union have agreed to a five-day extension of the contract and negotiations are continuing.
The contract was extended until 11:59 p.m. EDT Thursday, Aug. 9. It covers more than 22,000 wireline employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
The ongoing negotiations reflect the spirit of the longstanding relationship between the company and the union.
