3rd Annual Tampa Bay Veg Fest Brings Healthy, Family-Friendly Fun to Downtown Tampa

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tampa Bay area's only vegetarian/vegan festival returns to downtown Tampa on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The 3rd Annual Tampa Bay Veg Fest is a free event featuring guest speakers; healthy living and eco-friendly vendors; a children's area; live music; films; animal adoptions and delicious vegan food.

Guest speakers include Terry Hope Romero, Victoria Moran, Dr. Michael Greger and Kenneth G. Williams.

A star among vegan foodies, Terry Hope Romero is the author or co-author of such popular cookbooks as Veganomicon, Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World and Viva Vegan! Her newest cookbook, Vegan Eats World, hits the shelves in November 2012.

Victoria Moran is the author of 11 books, a certified holistic health counselor and the founder of Main Street Vegan Academy, which trains vegan lifestyle coaches. Her latest book is Main Street Vegan: Everything You Need to Know to Eat Healthfully and Live Compassionately in the Real World, which she co-wrote with her daughter, Adair Moran.

Dr. Michael Greger, a founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. He serves as the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States.

America's first vegan bodybuilding champion, Kenneth G. Williams is a world ambassador for veganism for athletics, health and fitness.

Over 3,000 people attended last year's event, and the 2012 edition is shaping up to be even bigger. Veg Fest will again take place at downtown Tampa's Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park at 601 Old Water Street, across the street and to the south of the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Parking is available in the adjacent South Regional Parking Garage, located at 301 Channelside Drive.

Veg Fest is presented by Florida Voices for Animals, a Tampa Bay-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal-advocacy organization that raises awareness of animal issues and educates individuals about how to make compassionate choices for animals. FVA also provides information about plant-based diets as a way to improve health while helping animals and the environment.
