New Film Inspires Americans to Rally Together Around Freedoms, Not Government

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The opening video from the Democratic National Convention stated "government is the only thing that we all belong to," but Veritas Entertainment, which will release "Last Ounce of Courage" nationwide Sept. 14, believes it is not government that holds us together but the freedoms and liberties on which our country was founded.

"'Last Ounce of Courage' is more than a movie with heart, it cries out for freedom and brings awareness to the issue that our personal liberties are slowly being threatened and questioned," said "Last Ounce of Courage" Director Kevin McAfee ("Beyond the Gates of Splendor," "The End of the Spear"). "While the film is bipartisan, it reminds us that it's our personal rights as Americans that bring us together, and we must join in sending an important message about freedom to our nation's leaders during this critical election season."

The first theatrical motion picture to receive "The Chuck Norris Seal of Approval," "Last Ounce of Courage," will open in 1,200 theaters across the nation this fall, to coincide with the Sept. 11 commemoration of Patriot Day.

Starring Marshall Teague ("Roadhouse") and Academy Award nominee Jennifer O'Neill ("Summer of '42"), "Last Ounce of Courage" tells a powerful intergenerational story of a grieving father inspired by his grandson to take a stand for what's right against a tide of apathy and vanishing liberty. Amidst a backdrop of military conflict abroad and domestic wars against freedom, a highly decorated combat veteran is reminded that we best honor our fallen heroes by holding dear to what they gave their all to defend.

Veritas Entertainment was invited to screen the movie at the Republican National Convention along with "Obama 2016" last week in Tampa one block from Liberty Plaza, in part because of its overarching themes of freedom, liberty, military, patriotism, family and faith.

Filmmakers hope "Last Ounce of Courage" serves not only as a source of entertainment, but more significantly stirs up important conversations. To that end, in conjunction with the release of the film, the producers have launched StandUSA, an unprecedented social broadcasting platform in assembling individuals, national and local organizations and thought leaders into an integrated community for expressing and sharing values. This online Facebook community provides a place where Americans can find like-minded citizens and advocate for the freedoms they hold dear.

"It is vital that we give citizens a voice and place to create a national dialogue about the values that are important to us," said Steve Griffin, CEO and President of the "Last Ounce of Courage" production company, Veritas Entertainment. "We as Americans need to come together in defense of the values of faith, family and freedom, and StandUSA helps us do that."

StandUSA works with the Liberty Counsel, National Rifle Association, American Family Association and other organizations to support American values and amplify the voices of individuals who want to take a stand on these issues. More information is available online at http://www.joinstandusa.com.
