Fulton Innovation Makes A Wireless Power Breakthrough With Adaptive Resonance For Simultaneous Charging And Super Spatial Freedom

ADA, Mich., Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fulton Innovation (www.fultoninnovation.com) today announced a new development in its award-winning eCoupled' wireless power technology that is poised to change the way we think about wireless power. Demonstrated in a two-minute video at http://bit.ly/QEOE27, the new technology, Adaptive Resonance, combines the benefits of inductive coupling, magnetic resonance, and Qi technology in one solution with full compatibility across all three approaches.

Adaptive Resonance brings greater spatial freedom, higher efficiency across a wide range of power levels, and allows multiple devices to be charged concurrently on the same surface. This "one-to-many" capability is an industry first. With over 8 million phones with Qi wireless charging capability in market now, including the recent launch of Nokia's new Lumia phones and suite of products with integrated Qi wireless power (http://bit.ly/OmGeYu), the timing is right for Fulton to offer the next generation of solutions to the industry.

With the development of Adaptive Resonance consumers have the flexibility of movement as devices can easily shift on the x, y, or z axes while maintaining very high charging efficiency. This means that devices can be moved vertically or horizontally while they continue to charge. The technology works with both closely and loosely coupled wireless charging systems while retaining the same size, efficiency, and control that manufacturers have come to expect with Fulton's eCoupled technology.

The greatest industry achievement of Adaptive Resonance lies in the technology's ability to allow receivers and transmitters to be backward compatible and enables through-surface charging designs and spatial freedom on pads and surfaces. It does this all while charging multiple devices simultaneously, recognizing and adapting to the power needs of each device. Best of all, there is no change in the technology footprint so phone manufacturers do not need to sacrifice precious space to integrate the technology directly into their phones.

"Adaptive Resonance is the next logical step in bringing consumers and manufacturers a new wireless power innovation that gives them unparalleled freedom, efficiency, and versatility while maintaining interoperability with the Qi standard," said Dave Baarman, Director of Advanced Technologies at Fulton Innovation. "We continue to lead the industry in pushing the technology forward so that everyone can enjoy these enhanced features and benefits of a wirelessly powered life."
