MedSpring Immediate Care Announces Chicago Expansion

CHICAGO, Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --MedSpring Immediate Care, a leading provider of high-quality immediate health care, today announced their expansion into the Chicago market with the opening of two centers in December 2012. MedSpring's Chicago-area centers will be located in Naperville at the corner of Hobson Road and Naper Boulevard, and in Arlington Heights at West Dundee Road and North Ridge Avenue. This marks the announcement of MedSpring's twelfth and thirteenth centers, respectively. All MedSpring locations have doctors on-site from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

"We are excited to arrive in Chicago, bringing a convenient, comfortable and cost-effective alternative to the emergency room," said Jon Belsher, M.D., MedSpring's Chief Medical Officer. "MedSpring's unique model is well suited for the Chicago market, and we look forward to providing exceptional medical care and customer satisfaction to a new community."

MedSpring offers quick and convenient immediate care, with on-site digital x-ray and lab facilities assisting MedSpring physicians in treating a wide range of illnesses and injuries, from cuts, sprains and broken bones to coughs, allergies and infections. Walk-ins are welcome, while scheduled appointments are also available. MedSpring also offers a relaxing atmosphere with unique amenities including complimentary snacks and beverages, in-room televisions and activities for children. MedSpring surveys every patient and posts all comments and reviews online, unless the patient prefers to keep their feedback private. After thousands of reviews, MedSpring patient ratings average 4.9 out of 5 stars.

For conditions threatening a patient's life, limb or vision, an emergency room visit is the appropriate setting. However, for non-life threatening issues, MedSpring provides a cost-effective and convenient alternative, with the average MedSpring visit lasting less than an hour compared to a national average of four hours for an emergency room visit. Additionally, while co-pays vary by insurance provider, MedSpring patients can expect to pay $35 to $50, compared to typical ER co-pays of $100 to $200 or more. For those without insurance or with a high deductible, the savings can be even more dramatic with a typical MedSpring visit costing under $200 compared to well over $1,000 for a comparable ER visit.

MedSpring's demonstrated success is a testament to a strong executive leadership team which includes Dr. Belsher, who serves as Chief Medical Officer. In this role he oversees clinical activities and ensures the delivery of quality health care across the MedSpring network. Previously, Dr. Belsher completed residencies in both Family Medicine and Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ and a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

In addition, Astrid Stracke brings over 25 years of hospitality experience from around the world to her role as Senior Vice President of Center Operations. Leading the company's center operations team, Ms. Stracke brings a strong customer service focus that results in a consistently outstanding patient experience. Most recently, Ms. Stracke coordinated operations for the portfolios of Marriott, JW Marriott and Renaissance brands in the Americas.
