Metro International S.A. ("Metro"), the international newspaper group is thrilled to announce that after a global competition to find the perfect Deputy Editor for Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson's special Metro Edition, Juan Nicolas Pinzón Guevara is the man for the job. An entrepreneur hailing from Bogota, Colombia, Pinzón Guevara said he "almost shed a tear" upon hearing the good news.
Readers from around the world were given the chance to submit a 1-minute video CV presentation of themselves to The Mission: Branson contest website and evaluated with "likes" and local juries.
"The pool of applicants was top-class. They are Metro readers, after all," says Maggie Samways, EVP Global Editor in Chief. "There's so much to learn from spending time with Sir Richard, so I know Juan will have a great time, and make his fellow finalists proud."
In addition to serving as the Deputy Editor to Sir Richard, Pinzón Guevara will receive a return trip to New York, be eligible for a letter of recommendation from Sir Richard, attend the World Business Forum (http://www.wobi.com/event/world-business-forum-new-york-2012) in New York as Sir Richard's guest, and have his nominated business receive advice on how to "screw business as usual" by Virgin Unite (http://virginunite.screwbusinessasusual.com/), the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group.
"Both Sir Richard Branson and Metro approach things in a different, inventive way - and Juan has proven he's one of us, too!" says Jeremy Bryant, VP Global Marketing. "The edition on October 4 (x-apple-data-detectors://2) will be a great collaboration among innovators."
As Global Guest Editor, Sir Richard will spend the day in the Metro New York newsroom, where he will work with editors, directing content and comment on the day's news for the edition. Sir Richard's issue will run in Metro newspapers around the world. Look for the edition on October 4, 2012 (x-apple-data-detectors://3)!
