HOLLYWOOD, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- Unified Pictures focuses on the ever-growing genre audience and launches targeted label Red Band Films where feature length films will be developed and created with the genre-specific audience in mind.
While the core of Unified Pictures is committed to commercial Indies that bring the world interesting and thought provoking cinema, Red Band will focus on more specific audience fare. Red Band will seek to highlight the best offerings from up and coming directors, as well as established veterans looking for a highly creative, brand-specific outlet.
"These titles have been wildly popular throughout the world for good reason," says Unified Pictures Founding Partner, Keith Kjarval. "Red Band is a dedicated label for the creation of these films for the true fans of genre. Additionally, cultivating the talent driving these unique films fits nicely into Unified's overall strategy of empowering the artist to create his or her best work."
Red Band Films recently acquired Gary Michael Schultz's directional debut, "Devil in My Ride," a horror comedy following two hapless men as they race across the country to save their friend's bride from possession and eternal damnation. Red Band has also optioned Schultz's sophomore film "Vincent & Roxxy," a crime thriller that follows a modern day Bonnie and Clyde as they fall in love against the backdrop of a violent nationwide crime spree.
The Red Band Films banner will complement Unified Pictures' existing line-up of high quality artist driven films. Unified Partner Ben Ruffman says, "The objective of Red Band Films is to create pictures for a targeted audience without diluting the core Unified concept. We all enjoy genre-style films and it's ideal to have a suitable in-house avenue for them."
